208- Sena
209- Sena
210- Congress
211- SP (Rais Shaikh )
212- Akhil Bhartiya Sena (Geeta Gawli)
213- Congress

3:00pm For the Congress, it’s now about saving face. The party has climbed a notch to 29 seats, but still well short of its 2012 tally of 52.

2:55 pm It’s not all over for the BJP in Mumbai though. The party is fast catching up and now has leads in 78 seats to the Shiv Sena’s 93.

2:50 pm Another indication that the BJP wants the focus to be away from Mumbai. Here’s what Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has to say: Congratulations @BJP4Maharashtra for success all over Maharashtra &for ?performance in Mumbai. @nitin_gadkari @PrakashJavdekar @Dev_Fadnavis — Nirmala Sitharaman (@nsitharaman) February 23, 2017

2:40 pm Madhav Bhandari, chief spokesperson of the BJP’s state unit, appears to be waving the white flag. “We will introspect how Shiv Sena managed to surge far ahead in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. We will look for reasons for the party’s performance which was ‘not as per expectations’,” he says.

2:35 pm It’s a tie in Ward 220 where BJP candidate Atul Shah and Shiv Sena leader Surender Bagalkar both got 5,496 votes. Recounting is now underway. Meanwhile, word coming in that MLC Bhai Jagtap will replace Sanjay Nirupam as Mumbai Congress chief. Nirupam has confirmed his resignation on Twitter: With all humility, I take the responsibility of defeat of Party in #BMCPolls2017 . Hence,I have offered my resignation from the post — Sanjay Nirupam (@sanjaynirupam) February 23, 2017

2:30 pm No word yet from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. His last tweet was an hour ago in which paid tribute to Sant Gadge Maharaj on his birth anniversary. Behind close doors, there certainly must be some apprehension in the BJP about the future of its state government.

2:25 pm: Here’s the latest numbers from Mumbai, with trends still to come from about 20 seats. Looks like the Shiv Sena might need a helping hand to cross the halfway mark of 114: Shiv Sena-93 BJP-70 Congress-22 MNS-10 Other-19

2:20 pm: BJP leader Shaina NC reminds everyone that Mumbai may be the centre of attention, but the BJP is the dominant force everywhere else in the state. Yes it’s a fact @Dev_Fadnavis worked tirelessly our victory in #Pune #nashik#solapur#nagpur#amravti all his effort @CMOMaharashtra https://t.co/riOYzqvg3e — ShainaNC (@ShainaNC) February 23, 2017 In the RSS’ domain of Nagpur, the party has won 70 seats while the Shiv Sena has yet to get on the scoreboard.

2:15 pm: Among his many victories, Uddhav Thackeray has certainly emerged as the Thackeray. Cousin Raj’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has yet to cross double digits.

2:10 pm: Congress leader and former South Mumbai MP Milind Deora has drawn a definitive conclusion from the results. “Mumbaikars seem content living with potholes, flooding, malaria & water tankers,” he says. Congrats Shiv Sena & BJP for retaining BMC. For Mumbai’s sake, earnestly hope the next 5 years are better than the last 2 decades ?? — Milind Deora (@milinddeora) February 23, 2017

2:05 pm: The outcome of these elections could well have repercussions on the fate of the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government in Maharashtra. And Sena leaders are clearly feeling emboldened by their lead in Mumbai:. Here’s what state Transport Minister Diwakar Raote has to say:  “We have our resignations in our pockets. The moment our leader tells us we will exit this government. One can only be together if there is dignity in the alliance.”

2:00 pm: The afternoon heat is at its peak but Shiv Sena supporters are celebrating on the street in Mumbai. The party currently leads in 94 seats, and needs just 20 more to retain power in the BMC.

1:55 pm: The Prime Minister often spoke about his mission for a Congress-mukt Bharat. For now, it’s almost a Congress-mukt Mumbai and Maharashtra. Till 2014, the party controlled the state government and had the most MPs in the state. Three years on, the Congress is struggling for relevance. The same goes for its former alliance partner, the Nationalist Congress Party.

1:50 pm: Should the Shiv Sena retain control of the BMC, the biggest winner will undoubtedly be party chief Uddhav Thackeray. A wildlife photographer who reluctantly entered politics, he is finally showing his stripes and a victory here would vindicate his bold decision to go it alone in the civic polls.

1:45 pm: The Shiv Sena hasn’t been able to replicate its Mumbai show in Pune. The party is leading in just 8 seats out of the 108 counted so far.

1:40 pm: As things stand, the Congress is heading towards its worst show in the BMC polls since the 90s. The party is leading in just 22 seats so far.

1:25 pm: Sanjay Nirupam has offered to resign from the post of the Chairman of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee after the party’s poor performance in the BMC polls. Sanjay Nirupam was previously a Shiv Sena leader before switching loyalties.

1:20 pm: As the counting of votes continue, we get you the latest updates on who will win this battle for Mumbai.

1:15 pm: Let’s take at a look at the latest update of who is leading from which party- Ward 92 Shital Mangwana BJP Ward 93 Rohini Kamble Shivsena Ward 94 Rashmi Malusare MNS Ward 95 Shekhar Vayangankar Shivsena Ward 96 Haji Mohmmad Halim khan Shivsena 1:10 pm: BMC Election Result 2007 – counting in progress

1.20 pm: Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam offers to resign after accepting responsibility for the defeat.

1.17 pm: NCP’s Rakhi Jadhav defeats Sena’s Mangal Bhanushali and BJP’s Bhalchandra Shirsat in ward 131. Bhanushali was Sena’s Gujarati face for polls.

1.14 pm: Results for M East:  Shiv Sena 6 seats, SP 5, NCP 1, BJP 1, Cong 1, MIM 1

1.11 pm: Tension between BJP workers and residents who claim to be Shiv Sena supporters outside BJP office in Mumbai.

1.10 pm: Shiv Sena group leader Trushna Vishwasrao has lost to Sufiyan Vanu of the Congress in ward 179. Phanase and Vishwasrao were heading the civic body for last two and half years. Both have lost.

1.07 pm: MIM candidate Waqarunnisa Ansari has lost to sitting Corporator Dynanraj Nikam’s daughter Nikita Nikam in ward No 223.

1.05 pm: Shiv Sena’s strongman and sitting corporator Yashodhar Phanse has lost from ward no 60 in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West. He heads the BMC’s all powerful Standing Committee.

1.04 pm: We have the first reaction from the BJP. “Sanjay Raut said that BJP couldn’t even manage 40 seats. We have crossed 50. This is like a slap on his face,” says Vinod Tawde, BJP, reports Priyanka Sahoo.BMC Election Results 2017 Winners
